Mission

The division of Student and Academic Services exists to support and further the mission of the university by:

  • developing, delivering, and advocating programs that unite and support students' academic and life pursuits;
  • providing opportunities for our students to develop the qualities and competencies required for life-long learning, leadership, service, and friendship;
  • providing university-wide student and academic services directly and in collaboration with academic units and other offices;
  • maintaining a responsible balance between the creation and delivery of these programs and services and available human and financial resources;
  • contributing to a diverse living and learning environment that promotes students' intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, civic, career, and physical development.
  • providing and supporting programs and services that foster diversity, inclusion, and learning among all members of the Cornell community.

Goals

Create and support a learning community filled with opportunities in and beyond the classroom for students and faculty to integrate and link those experiences with their learning from academic programs.

Provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to participate together in intellectual, spiritual, social, cultural, athletic, and service activities.

Create and sustain an environment that promotes personal growth and discovery and the pursuit of healthy minds and bodies.

Develop and use technology to streamline and improve the services we deliver university wide and improve access to information needed by students, faculty, and staff.

Create an environment that fosters an awareness of responsibility for self, community, and public service.

Celebrate accomplishments, both group and individual, that bring us closer to achieving our mission.
